Question for new parents. Has anyone had issues with their child’s SS card?

Our birthing center ordered our son’s SS card the day after he was born, August 22. We saw through the USPS Daily Digest (a daily preview of incoming mail) that the card was sent out on Saturday Sept 8. It is now Friday Sept 14 and the envelope has not appeared in our mailbox. We are concerned that either someone purposely stole it or that it was sent to the wrong address. I also believe that each person is only allowed a new SS number once in their lifetime. We are considering ordering him a new SS number. Has anyone had experience with this? Thank you in advance.
