Dress Codes - What is your opinion?

Ma

As a highschooler I rarely had any trouble with the dress codes in the small schools I attended in Southeastern Oklahoma. To be fair, I was the girl that generally wore jeans, tshirts, and converse. My daughter who is in her senior year tells me almost daily about the other kids getting coded. They seem to target primarily females, and it has generally been jeans with holes. She said that one girl was forced to put duct tape on her pants, and because it was on all day, it actually stuck to her skin and was painful to pull off. My daughter has been verbally reprimanded about shoulder baring shirts, even though she has wide strapped tanks under them. I'm a little bit of a modest dresser myself, but have no problem with any of her clothes that she wears to school. Not only is it clothes, but the school system has a real issue with piercings. This actually bothers me, due to the blatant sexism. While females are allowed to have their ears pierced, males are not. When my brother was in fourth grade he had his ear pierced. The teacher literally put hands on my brother, and took it out without informing my parents. It had just been pierced, so of course it swelled and bled. My mother lost her mind of course, and it wasn't long before he was moved to a new school. This story had been repeated with various young men in this school system multiple times.

Anyways, I want to hear your thoughts!
