Which is better?

Would a dock-a-tot or just a bassinet be better? I also have enough room for a crib in our room. I would like the baby to sleep in bed with us but it would make me super nervous.

Pack n play instead of bassinet and then a crib. Avoid dockatot if you can.

A dockatot is not a replacement for a bassinet. I would only get it if you plan to use it as a cosleeper like you said.

It depends. My cousins all hated bassinets and like the bouncer because they were nosey babies. Liked to see what mom was doing at all times. Ive always been told not to sleep with baby in bed with you because then they cry the moment you put them anywhere to sleep that is not attached to you. My best friend did this with her son and it made baby sitting him a task. Then he did not have an easy transition to his own bed and own room later. Your baby could be different  tho so.

The dock-a-tot is not a replacement for a bassinet and they’re not meant to be used for sleeping, other than completely supervised naps so you can move the baby’s head away from the side to avoid suffocation. I would never recommend using one for overnight sleeping or unsupervised naps. 
Bassinets are great because you can keep it close to your bed and easily reach in to pick your LO up for comfort or late night breastfeeding. If you have room for a crib in your room, however, you might be able to skip the bassinet and just use a crib from day 1 so you’ll never have to go through an adjustment period later. That would be ideal, but some babies don’t like the crib right away because they’re so big that the baby doesn’t feel secure. You could always try using the crib, and if it doesn’t work out you can buy a bassinet instead for the first few months. Amazon Prime will quickly become your best friend, if it isn’t already. 
I personally used a bassinet for 2 months, then moved my son into his own room with a crib and it worked out great. We have a small master bedroom so there’s no way we could have fit a crib in our room, but if we could then maybe that’s what we would have done instead because crib mattresses are so much more comfortable than bassinets.

Amazon has this cosleeper bed extender type thing. I'm getting one for baby number two. I know my husband will kill the baby in his sleep by rolling on it.

I just put the crib in our room. Waiting on my baby though! I figured if I was going to spend the money on a good mattress I might as well start using it ASAP. If baby doesn’t like it I’ll try a halo bassinet.

Bassinet or crib. A dock a tot is not safe for unsupervised sleeping. Bedsharing isn’t safe either.
