The Birth of Jeremy Jr.
At our 20 week ultrasound, we found out my child was a boy. We also found out he had a lung abnormality. Back then it was called a CCAM. They have since been renamed CPAM. This was about 7 years ago.
So because of his lung abnormality, I had to be induced. So on April 16th, 2012 around 6pm, we went in to the hospital to begin the process. First they placed a balloon in my cervix to dialate me. They slowly filled it with water so it got bigger, forcing my cervix open. When I was 3cm, they started a pitocin drip. The contractions came on quickly. I got the epidural 45 minutes later because my pain tolerance is very low. My husband and I tried to sleep but it's hard to do that when you have a nurse coming in to check on you frequently. The night passes and we sleep very little. Morning finally came. Around 7am I was fully dialated and ready to push. I pushed and pushed and pushed but due to my displaced pelvis, he was stuck in there. They had to reach in and adjust him a little. Finally, after 3.5 hours (yeah, you read that right) of pushing, my son way born. They placed him on my chest so my husband could cut the cord but once he wasn't attached to me anymore, they took him quickly to assess his breathing. The NICU nurses checked him over very thoroughly to be sure he was ok because of his CCAM. It took them a while to do everything. Finally, my husband got to hold him. Then his mom. To be honest, I was terrified of holding my son. He's the first baby I had ever held. I stalled as long as I could until I had no other excuse. But when they finally put him in my arms, it was like he was a puzzle piece I didn't even know I was missing. He was so handsome and perfect, even with that awful CCAM inside him. He had surgery at 8.5 months old to have it removed. He's now a perfectly healthy and thriving six year old!
