Trying for a baby, should we get tested for infertility issues or not?
So I have had baby fever for my entire life, literally. Since I was about 14 😬 I never tried at that age obviously. But I grew up babysitting family members, working at daycares, my life has always revolved being around kids.
When I turned 17 I wanted to start TTC with my boyfriend. (Now husband)
🤦🏻♀️ Stupid looking back, I know.
We tried for a baby for two years.
I stopped TTC and started college. I am now 24 and have graduated with my BA, and am actually in a position where I am financially stable. We both have jobs we absolutely love, we now have a home, cars that are paid off, and I have no student loan debt or anything. Also my job is really flexible. I am able to work from home or go into work. So that will be great once I do have a baby. My point is, I feel financially secure and like I am actually ready to have a child.
My husband and I have decided we are ready to start TTC again. So my question is, should we see our doctors right away to see if we can get tested for infertility (like PCOS, Endometriosis, hormone imbalances, sperm counts etc) Since when we were younger we never could conceive. Or should we try for a full year before we make appointments since we are now older. I was also overweight at 17-19. I’m now at a healthy weight, quit smoking cigarettes, etc.
