Just started the pill... during your sugar pill week will you start a period and you’re fertile that week?

I’m 23 and I’ve had 2 IUDs. First one was for 5 years the second was for 1 year and it caused such severe hormonal acne that I decided it would be better to remove it. I have been married since May 2018 but we are not ready for a baby. I got the pills at the health dept and they really didn’t give me any information. I have not had a cycle since I was 16 and I feel really weird not having one. She blew me off and said to skip the sugar pills. Why would they be on there if I shouldn’t take them. Sorry I’m just ignorant I’ve never taken the pill.

If you want to have a period you take that break week of sugar pills. If you don’t want a period you skip the sugar pills and move right to the next pack. As for your fertile week it wouldn’t be during your period it would be typically around 2 weeks before your period. Although I think some birth controls stop ovulation so you might want to read the pamphlet it comes with to check that out.

The sugar pills are there so you will have a “period”. Some people take them, some people don’t take any pills for 7 days. Some people skip their period by going straight from week 3 to a new pill pack. As long as you start the new pack the right day, it’ll be fine. I personally take my sugar pills because if I don’t, I’ll forget to start a new pack. As long as you take the rest of the pack correctly, you’ll still be 99% protected during your placebo pill week

Still take the sugar pill, it’s meant to be taken the week you have your period.
My sister is on the pill to help regulate her period. I’d ask your doctor if your still unsure.

When I was on it, I tried skipping the sugar pills. Because my body is sensitive, I had break through bleeding for almost 2 weeks. I’d take the sugar pills if your body tends to be sensitive.

Those pills are really just to keep you in the habit of taking a pill every day. You don’t have to take them.  The week of the placebo pills os the week you should be on your period. Your fertil week would be 10-14 days after the first day of your last period but typically birth control pills prevent ovulation. Read the insert for yours specifically and/or call the health center where you got them to have them explain

Those pills are there so you have a period but don't get out of the habit of taking a pill. I was on several pills over the course of the last 10 years that allowed me to skip the placebo pill for a couple cycles and only have a period every 3 months, but it depends on your pill. When I was on pills that didn't allow for that, I just didn't take them. However, you aren't typically considered fertile during that week - the pill makes it so your body doesn't actually release an egg to fertilize.
