Lost! BFN! Progesterone

I need some advice, so my period is 12 days late, having taken 3 hpt’s all negative, I went to the doctors for a blood test, again this was negative. As I have a regular cycle, and don’t have PCOS this is very strange for me to be this late, as it’s never happened before. The OB gave me Duphaston (progesterone) tablets to induce my period. I’m a little apprehensive about taking them after reading around, and tbh I don’t want to take a pill when prior to this month I’ve never had a single mensural issue. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
