Getting my belly button pierced! Advice, tips appreciated!

Hi ladies,

I turn 18 the first week of November and am planning on getting my belly button pierced on my birthday. I’ve wanted a belly button piercing for several months now, and would rather get it than a tattoo because if I don’t like it I can just take it out.

I already know the style and placement I want. I have an innie and want the piercing on the top, just a small gold or silver stud.

This is my first “body” piercing. I have 3 ear piercings that I did myself a few years ago, but other than that no experience with other piercings.

What should I expect? How long is the healing process? What are mistakes I should avoid at all costs, and precautions to take no matter what?
