RH shot?

I’m 27 weeks pregnant and haven’t heard anything about this shot? I’ve been seeing posts on here about it and sort of freaking out. Am i supposed to have had something done?

You should be getting it at 28 weeks. So if you don’t have an appointment before then, I would call your doctor.

You only have to get it if you have a negative blood type. You will get one shot at 28 weeks and then once the baby is born you will have to have another shot if the baby has a positive blood type. I would guess if they haven’t said anything to you then you probably have a positive blood type but I would check in case you don’t know your blood type or have concerns.

That’s only if you are rH negative. And baby is positive. You don’t need it if dr hasn’t said anything about it.

If you have negative blood type you will need to get it. Mine went in my hip muscle but i have also heard you can also get it in your belly, hip, or butt. Didn’t hurt too bad at all. Basically it protects the baby from leaking positive blood into your blood stream. If there is positive blood cells in your blood your body basically tries to fight off the baby and those blood cells. That was how they explained it to me. I had a blood test, then the shot right after. I ended up not having any positive blood cells in the blood test but they will do it again when I’m in labor.

As others have stated, only necessary if you are RH negative blood type and your partner is positive. If that’s not the case you won’t need one.
If you are (like me) you’ll get a shot between 26-28 weeks and then another after the baby is born only if the baby is not RH negative like you. This is my second pregnancy and I got mine a few weeks ago. Do complications with my last.
