So, I have PCOS which comes with Imbalance hormones. We tested my progesterone in my levels were low. My gyno decided to put me on 200 mg of progesterone every day. As a nurse, I question this primarily just because most women start progesterone halfway through their cycle when the progesterone spikes, not every day.

Well I had a 12 day cycle. So then gyno took my progesterone up to 400 mg a day. I had another 12 day cycle. Meanwhile I still felt very skeptical about what she was doing. Lo and behold I did more research and found that as long as you were taking progesterone you are not ovulating!!!!!!

She told me to stop taking progesterone after my second 12 day cycle and instead take it halfway through my next cycle. So I did as I was told, finally had my first positive OPK test two days after my period had ended. However I ended up having another 12 day cycle, probably because there was still progesterone levels left in my blood.

Moral of the story, it’s OK to ask your gyno what she’s doing and why. Mine completely screwed me up for two months of which I did not ovulate and had periods back to back!
