Were you allowed to eat during labor?

Question

Sometimes labor is a few hours and sometimes it’s 40+. Maybe it’s just because I’m so hungry during my pregnancy but I’m concerned about not being able to eat during the lighter stages of labor. I’ve had friends that were only allowed to eat ice chips and were terribly hungry at times. 
What was your experience? Comments to know when you were allowed to eat, when there were restrictions and where/how long ago you delivered would be helpful for me to get a gauge of current trends. 
I’ll be delivering in a hospital with an OBGYN. I’m low risk.

At my hospital you can have clear liquids- popsicles, jello, chicken broth, etc.

I wasn’t allowed to eat during labor for any of my pregnancies. I made sure I ate something light on the way to the hospital. My first pregnancy, I was in labor for 4.5 hours and was eating dinner by 7pm lol. My second pregnancy I was in labor for 21 hours. Surprisingly, I wasn’t hungry just thirsty. My mom and bf were with me the entire labor and of course, they had to eat because they were starving 😂😂😂 them eating in front of me didn’t bother me 🤷🏽‍♀️ but once I gave birth, I needed a cold drink and food!!! I sent my bf to Whataburger at 3am and fell asleep eating my BOB 😂😂😂

I was in labor for 26 hours before needing an unplanned c section. I wasn’t allowed to eat, and even though that was awful, I’m glad I wasn’t allowed to because I started vomiting when the doctor was sewing me back up. I was mostly dry heaving but I can’t imagine how much worse it would’ve been with food.

They don't allow you to eat bc if you need to have an emergency c section you can aspirate

You honestly won’t feel hungry because you will be getting IV. If anything you will be thirsty. But at least they give you ice chips.

I had water and would have been allowed to have some things but I was only in labor at the hospital for 4 hours so I didn't really need or want to.

I HAD to eat because of GD. I was eating for 3 hours. By the 4th hour, he was out.

I was allowed to eat whatever I wanted up until I had the epidural. I never planned on getting the epidural, but my labor was taking so long and I was having inconsistent contractions so progressing very slowly. I ended up asking for the epidural. After that, I ate lots of jello.

No, but my friend kept sneaking me peanut butter crackers all night while the nurses weren’t looking. I was starving and grouchy.

I was at a birth center and ate fruit in early labor. I didn’t want to eat after I was admitted until I had my baby. Then I was ravenous! We ordered Indian food in. They had a kitchen for us to use, but I forgot my frozen lasagna.
My husband and mom (both with me) definitely switched off to have snacks while I labored.
