Just curious...

How many nights are you required to stay at the hospital for a regular vaginal delivery? Does it vary by state?

We are in NJ and I believe it is two nights. When I had my daughter 2 years ago she was born at 10:00pm (I went into labor at 5:00am that morning). We stayed that night plus the next night and were sent home in the afternoon.

I’ve been noticing that some women are going home after only one night (mostly with their second or third babies) and I am wondering if that is just based on location, doctor or can you request to go home sooner as long as you and baby are checked and everything is okay?
