Flu shot argument

Brittany

Because we are having a December baby, right in the middle of flu season, we have asked our close family that will be around the baby to get a flu shot. It will make me feel a lot better knowing people we will be around have it. I understand it doesn't always work and there are side affects and other things people do not like about the flu shot, but for one time to help give out newborn baby a little extra protection, is it really that much to ask? My husband's whole family refuse to get it, so I have said they will not be able to be around the baby until flu season is over. I am not planning on going out in public for this fear but hoped we could be around family, but that doesn't seem to be the case either.... Am I over reacting? Or is this a legitimate fear? Seeing all the deaths from it last year really has me scared about it.
