Should I add the fathers last name?

Colleen • mommy to two angels 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

I’m not sure if he wants to be in their life or not and I want the babies to have BOTH our last names. I am half puerto rican but my father was adopted so we have a “white” last name and i know he feels deprived of his hispanic culture and I know I do too even though I have alot more experience and I guess I would be considered more boricua than him. I don’t want my kids to feel the same way, I don’t want them to have to say I’m mexican but their last name would be pretty white. I know especially in the hispanic community there are certain standards if you are not a certain way you are not considered hispanic, & also i am half turkish I plan on teaching my kids turkish because spanish is taught everywhere, and also if you know turkish you pick up spanish so fast. I literally know spanish so well just from knowing turkish and i dont believe its because its just in my blood. Anyways I dont know if I should it’s traditional anyways to have both mom and dads last name regardless of parental involvement example is actually the father has both his mom and dads last name & weirdly enough his moms last name is the same last name my dad wouldhave had and so would I if he was not legally adopted. I know this dragged on awhile but I just do not know what to do.
