Hanging out with a boy (friend)

I’ve recently contacted a childhood friend of mine and he was hoping to hang out on the weekend doing something like eating and watching a movie. The idea sounds so great to me and I agreed to it but I have no clue how to ask my mother for permission without her assuming things. She’s the type of woman to assume any of my guy friends were either interested in me in a romantic way, homosexual or just having bad intentions... I’m 14 help i’m completely scared to ask my Mum!
