2nd hand smoke?

My husband recently moved us in with his uncle who smokes weed and cigarettes, while I'm very thankful I'm also very concerned about the effect of second hand smoke. My husband and I aren't smokers,  never been. Any advice? Please help. I really don't know what to do. Are my 1, 3, and unborn being affected?

Why would you move in with someone that smokes and then worry about second hand smoking?

I would not let my newborn daughter be watched at my husbands parents until they stopped smoking inside and got all the surfaces rid of smoke. They replaced the carpets, painted and got a air purifier. And guess what? My father in law quit smoking after 50 years because of all the changes so it’s a win-win (although very difficult at the time)

If it’s inside the house then yes all of you are in danger. And I’d do whatever it took to get out of that situation. Just gross! Ugh I hate that. And even if you got him to stop doing it and go outside, if he’s being doing it forever the smells are already wayyyy deep in the walls, furniture, carpet etc.

Yes, both second hand and third hand (chemicals sticking to clothes/furniture/etc) smoke have negative effects on health.

It’s just as dangerous 👎 my midwife advised if any smokers were visiting baby to remind them not to smoke 30 minutes prior to visiting, removed coats and sanitise hands before going near baby. Thankful I don’t have anybody close to me that smokes.

I feel as long as it’s outside then no- but if its inside then yes unfortunately there will be some secondhand  going on.

Personally I wouldn’t be super concerned unless someone already has like respiratory issues to start with. But some parts of my family smoked cigarettes while pregnant 🙄 (yes, this century) so I’ve learned to be grateful for the distance I have. No smoking inside of course. No smoking in front of kiddos.

I wouldn’t have chosen to move there personally.  Even if he does it only up or downstairs or in a room it’s traveling in the air.  It’s in the walls and the furniture as well, so bad for you and your kids.  If you can find another place to live I would definitely look around. 😖
