For starters..I’m in the US. The thought of leave is already giving me anxiety. My work does have short term disability for 5 weeks and FMLA but they make you use alllllll of your time while on leave, even if you haven’t accrued it for the year yet. We get all of our vacation time 1/1 of the year so I immediately can take vacations but in this situation I will return from maternity leave and not have a single hour left for the rest of the year. I already have 1 kid and I am the sole one to take off for any kind of sick day. This also means no winter break or summer vacation with my family. What kind of a world do we live in here? I don’t even need it to be paid (but my god do I!) but for the love of pizza don’t make me use all of my saved vacation days for maternity leave..it is far from a vacation!
