No epidural birth experience?

Question

Looking for some birth stories worth no epidural? I really don’t want one. And want to try with out it. It’s my first pregnancy. I was curious what was your experience? Did you use any other methods of pain relief? (If you had a labor with epidural and one without) what was your overall thoughts towards each one? ☺️💕🦋

I had a horrible experience with an epidural so an also going natural this time around. Everyone I’ve spoken with who has done both has preferred natural to epidural from what I’ve heard.

I went drug amd epidural free with both of my births and honestly, i just didn't give myself the option of medication. The pain was almost completely gone once the babies were out. what got me through was breathing through the contractions and concentrating on the baby moving down and out.

I went all natural and spent a lot of my labor in the birthing tub. I did get out of the tub to push though. I felt the water helped a lot. I was talking through contractions until I was dilated to an 8 and even then I didn’t think it was tooo horrible until pushing time lol

Ive had 2 natural labours. If you focus on dealing with the pain and on the final result you can do it! We are built to do it. I had no epidural on my plan. So i had no choice. I had fast recoveries and bled for only 5 days. Back having sex very fast too. I definitely recommend it

I had both. In my second birth I used hypnobirthing techniques which helped me cope with the contractions. The pushing felt as a relief. In my first birth i had an epidural and I definitely felt worse after giving birth.. needed more time to recover.

I used iv pain med nubane. I highly reccomend it. It took edge off but i was completely aware of everything

I've gone natural all 3 times now and am currently 34wks planning to go without epidural again. The contractions were noticeably more intense than braxton hicks of course but I could handle them. Once I was closer to delivery about 8cm I found it more comfortable to not speak during contractions but to breathe through them instead. Once it was time to push, however, I felt a big "drop" and found myself with an immediate urge to begin pushing (though the nurses weren't yet prepared...so i resisted the strong urge until they were in place) pushing relieved the contractions and baby was out before I knew it. I didn't tear, no ring of fire, and immediately after delivery I felt like I could walk and everything just fine. It was practically the same every time for me.

My first 2 pregnancies I had epidurals and I felt nothing. Not pressure to push or anything which was fine, I guess. I was laughing and joking around while 8cm, and didn’t think contractions were terrible, but my fear of what it would feel like to actually push baby out is what made me decide to get the epidurals. My 3rd baby was completely unmedicated and it really wasn’t terrible. I didn’t feel any “ring of fire” or anything, and pushing actually felt good! I had been at the hospital for about 30 minutes before I pushed him out, so my body was definitely ready and i just let it do it’s thing. For baby 4 I fully intend on another unmedicated birth. The pain of labor and delivery is temporary, but nothing has made me feel stronger. I will also say that recoveries were way different between medicated and unmedicated. 
After the medicated births I had bad baby blues and mild ppd, and didn’t feel like myself physically for weeks. I had a hard time walking for the following day after delivery. Immediately after my unmedicated birth I felt like a superhero and was ready to go home and continue living my life lol. No ppd, no baby blues, no trouble walking or standing or pooping. Good luck!

Had an epidural but it failed. Felt everything from my sunny side up baby’s head in my back to my internal tear to my 4th degree episiotomy and then sewing me back up. Worst experience of my life. I’m getting a c-section this time (not by choice) and I can’t tell you how relieved I am.
