Latching Problems?

Is anyone else having problems breastfeeding? My little girl was born on the first and since her first feeding she has refused to latch. I thought if we keep at it she would eventually learn but that’s not the case. She’s 12 days old and will still not doing it. I’m having to pump like crazy but unable to produce enough to feed her so we are doing formula too. It’s starting to feel like breastfeeding is not the path for us. Anyone else have or having this problem?

I would contact your lactation specialist. They are covered by your insurance. Baby could have tongue or lip tie

I'm right there with you. I met with a lactation consultant while still in the hospital but baby would only attempt to latch maybe once and then she either falls asleep mid suckle or she completely melts down until I get her a bottle. 
Pumping has been so discouraging but I'm really trying to make it work. I'd love to not have to worry about having formula on hand but DANG this has been much more difficult than I had originally expected. I recently ordered some nipple shields and I'm really hopeful that they might help things along.

My son is 5 days old and is refusing to latch. I’ve been pumping a lot lately and I’ll get him to latch only sometimes it’s really heart breaking. Every time I mentioned this to the nurse or pediatrician while in the hospital they would latch him on with ease and now at home it’s becoming quite the challenge. I refuse to give up.

Try getting a nipple shield. She might latch to that. Then you can eventually try to wean her off of that and latch right to your nipple. You can get them at most places that sell baby supplies.

I’m in same boat but instead of baby not latching, I just don’t make enough milk . We are pumping and supplementing now 💗

That happened with my oldest he would not latch I ended up haveing to pump
