How are you dressing your newborn?

I’m due the 17th of December in Michigan so it will obviously be freezing. Others ladies in cold places, what are you dressing your newborn in to take them home from the hospital?
Like do I go full out snowsuit, or layers with a blanket over? Our first was a mid June Baby so didn’t really have this issue!

I am doing either a onesie and outfit. Or a cute little brother sleeper, with a hat. And we have one of the covers that goes over the car seat. A snow suit is not recommended when being buckled into the car seat.

So no snowsuit. Just the cuddle bag with a small blanket with a hat. My friend used it last January when she gave birth and said that the nurse approved and that her daughter was hot and cozy.

Layers work well, it’s only going to be cold going from hospital to car and car to house. Avoid anything bulky as it can make car seats ineffective.

Due December 13 in Michigan as well. I’m doing layers with a blanket(s) over it. I don’t want things to be too bulky for the car seat and I’m concerned about baby overheating.

This outfit with a fleece jacket, winter hat, booties, and mittens, with a blanket in the car seat so I can easily take it off if she feels too warm.

It is not just puffy jackets and coats, too many light layers can also effect the integrity and safety while buckled in the car seat. Probably some footie pjs or long sleeve onesie with pants, and some mittens and little slippers to go over the footies as well. And then a blanket over babe. You should be able to strap babe in with his onesie and any layers you add should be able to fit without loosening straps, if you have to loosen the straps at all, in the even of an accident the straps slide right over the additional layers and it won’t keep babe in! Not trying to shove info down your throat😂 I just didn’t know any of this with my first little lady last year, and during winter I would buckle in over her jacket. Once I read it was a no no I felt AWFUL! I wish someone would have told me from the get go! Good luck momma!

Snowsuits and puffy jackets are no nos in the carseat so I'd go with warm layers hat mittens and warm blanky tucked in around.

A long sleeve onesie, college pants, socks, stockings in case it's really cold, and a sweater. Then a woolen jumpsuit and a warm blanket, mittens, woolen socks, baby balaclava and a hat/beanie. Living in Finland so it can get really cold in the end of December. 😅

This was our first son when we brought him home. It was about -4 out. This baby is also due in the winter and we are bringing him home in the same thing. It’s a fleece sleeper with a blanket over him and a car seat cover. The hospital gave us the hat.
