Breastfeeding for as long as I can. . .

Hi Mamas,

Just wanted to get a gauge on something.

The American Academy of Pediatrics and World Health Organization recommend breastfeeding until children are 2.

I'm hoping to wean my baby girl at 18 months, as I only made it to 14 months with her brother (had more of a struggle on my breastfeeding journey with him).

Not all, but some people (including hubby) are kinda giving me that side-eye vibe about it.

For my son, it was a natural decision to wean as he had recently walked over to me and pulled my shirt down (at my parents' place) AND my supply had taken a huge hit. We were about to embark on a 3-day weekend trip (our first time away from baby), and it seemed like the natural course to take to wean him. I decided to stop and not pump, and we were ok. (We'd debated putting him back on for an international trip a couple months later but ended up deciding against it.)

With my daughter, she's also displaying a similar aptitude, and part of me is wondering if my husband's assessment that she's getting too big and smart for nursing might be accurate. She will sometimes twist her little body around and back while still latched (from reclining to lying on my body to kneeling on my thigh back to whatever position).

This time around, we do have a freezer full of milk so she can hopefully still have breast milk till she's 2, but I just won't be actually breastfeeding her till then.

As with my first, I do feel like she's more comfort nursing than breastfeeding at this late stage, since she can feed herself food and drink her milk (and now water) from a cup.

Any helpful and supportive words of advice? It'd be super appreciated.

I'm also back on birth control (mini pill), which is not supposed to drop your supply, but I feel like it has Idk for sure though.

Thanks for reading, and I appreciate all of you!!
