Genital herpes and childbirth?

Has anyone had a natural childbirth although you had genital herpes? Was the baby okay?

I don’t have them but I’m pretty sure you can deliver vaginally as long as you’re not having an active outbreak :)

They usually will prescribe medication around 36 weeks to prevent an outbreak closer to delivery. If you have any outbreaks or signs of an outbreak they will do a c-section.

My friend has herpes and had a vaginal birth, no issues. They didn’t even mention a C section to her

Lots of women are able to have vaginal deliveries. Ask about doing antiviral prophylaxis during your last month of pregnancy.

Most likely they’ll make you have a c-section because you can still pass the virus without having an outbreak, and it will kill your newborn.
