What is the most important trait in a leader?

I just got a promotion into a leadership position. I've never been in a leadership position and I'm a little anxious about it.
Do you have any advice? What do you think is the most important trait in a leader?
I believe mutual respect, trust, and consistency are all very important.

Don’t expect staff to do something that you wouldn’t do yourself. Delegate equally, including yourself.

Don't feel like you have to have all the answers. It's ok to say you don't know, but you'll find out and let them know. Or say you need to think about it before giving an answer.

Always have your team members back. Consider yourself their advocate. I’m a nurse and the best boss I ever had always supported and had faith in me, and it helped me grow tremendously. She assumed the best. She also would discipline when needed, but it was never her first thought.

Not micro managing , unbiased conflict management , listener , willingness to do even the “lower level” tasks . Valuing your team and letting them know it

Be humble. Just because you are in charge doesn’t mean you are not constantly learning from others.

I love this. As a COO, I think the most important trait in a leader is empathy. Being able to listen and understand will go a long way - with people you manage, with your peers, with your customers.
