Does the ‘a’ in lgbtqia stand for ally also?

I’ve always understood the the a in lgbtqia stood for asexual, aromatic and agender, but some people believe that it stands for allies 🙄

No, allies are not a part of the community as it is not their space. 
But, allies are often “included” the LGBT community, to make things safer for closeted LGBT kids in unsafe environments. It’s a way to protect LGBT kids.

Context is important here. 
No being an ally does not make someone queer. 
However, ally was historically a safe word to the community. It was a shelter for closeted people, and a code to let those that are out know this was a safe person. 
Being queer today in 2018 is such a different experience than it was in 1998, and I’m sure it was even more difficult before then. If someone defined themselves as an ally, it literally meant, will not beat the shit out of you for existing. This why people sometimes include it, and why those people tend to be older. 
Keeping that in mind, it’s why being an ally is sometimes thrown into the mix. It does not mean that an ally also has a marginalized gender or sexual orientation.

What’s the I stand for? Also, sort for my lack of knowledge, but a stands for queer right? What does queer mean ? When I just looked it up one meaning said homosexual, but the L and G are already in there so why is queer in there too? 
Also, I thought queer was an offensive term? Maybe it just depends on how someone uses it
