MIL offered to nanny full time

Sa

So my MIL offered to be our full time babysitter for free next fall when I’m ready to go back to work. Even though my husband and I have already picked out a daycare we like and are on the waiting list. I am a teacher and a huge advocate for daycare because of the socialization and immune defense and other benefits that our child will encounter. And on a side note, I do not trust my MIL and I am not a fan of her overall character as a person, so I do not want her with my child all day everyday. She is a total control freak and I don’t think she would abide by our rules. And she is also extremely forgetful and lazy. Not someone I want my kid around.

Well my husband is worried about finances even though we both make plenty of money to pay for daycare. But he is also a MAJOR mommas boy. He always chooses her side over mine and he tells her more stuff than he tells me it seems like. So when she offered I think he thought it was amazing and I would jump right on board with him. Well when I try to explain that I WANT our child to go to daycare he gets defensive and says I’m being completely irrational because we could save all that money. He also pointed out this morning he thinks I’m only saying no because “it’s his mom”. Even though that is part of it, I’m more just committed to the idea of daycare and think it’s worth the money.

It has caused a rift this morning and now we can’t discuss other daycare options without all roads leading to MIL and an argument. Anyone else had something similar happen? I legit don’t know what to do. I don’t want to hurt my husbands feelings, but I’m not letting that woman watch my child all day everyday just to save a few bucks.
