Breastfeeding Advice
A lot of women come here asking advice - a lot have asked how to increase milk flow etc.
I would like to offer some advice. I am still learning though along the way as well.
I'm 10 months in, breastfeeding my daughter.
I've tried many things. One thing I know for sure where I've actually seen results is when I increase my water intake. I drink ginger beer every week one 2 litre bottle. But everyday I drink AT LEAST 3x 900 ml of water. Studies show to drink 3 litres per day. I set a time for each 900 ml bottle I fill. By 10 am I have to finish a bottle, then fill up..By 1 pm finish etc. It helps keep my hydrated, not as hungry and more energetic.
I also express daily as I'm working. 4 times during working hours for 10 - 30 mins each session. I express first thing in the morning. My daughter drinks on me often. She only drinks breast milk. My goal is to breastfeed for as long as possible.
I stopped drinking that much water and noticed a decrease in flow. Started up again and increase in flow.
I know many cannot drink water - add flavor to it if that helps. But the main ingredient in BM is water, do it for the flow of your milk.
I hope this helps! I'd really love to hear your stories of how you got the flow going or if you've tried out my method and how it turned out. Good luck mums!
All my love!! Xxx
