Falling out of love how?

Question

How does falling out of love work? 
Is it gradual or a choice or does it happen fast? 
Can it happen a year or so into the relationship? What are the signs? 
Is getting bored and not seeing them how you saw them attractive in the beginning a sign that they bother u and aren’t exciting anymore like before? 
Help I’m just trying to learn how this works

Sometimes it happens slowly and sometimes it happens fast it just depends on the different reasons - I knew I fell out of love with an ex when I looked at him one day and found no attraction whatsoever, I didn’t enjoy hanging out with him and the thought of kissing him almost repulsed me.... over the course of time I’d just lose attraction due to seeing his true colors and how childish he could be.

To me (and my friends), when you fall out of love, you don’t look forward to seeing them anymore. In fact, you almost want to go out of your way to not see them. They aren’t enjoyable to you like they used to be. It’s sad. But good because you’ll realize they just weren’t your person and you’ll find another one.

For me it started happening in May, I just got bored talking to him at times, wasn’t as attracted as I used to be, etc etc. by August I officially broke up with him. I put it off for so long bc I wasn’t sure what I was feeling and I didn’t want to lose my best friend, we’d been together over 2 years! But since breaking it off I do feel I made the right choice. I don’t feel as upset or lonely as I anticipated :)
