Bold Lip

I've worn lipstick for about 5 years. Usually it's been pink out nude because my mum wouldn't want me to stand out but i am seriously into fashion and want to try a bold, dramatic look. What colour should iuse and any tips? I'm very fair, which is why the choices are limited. I don't want to wash myself out. Content any others though
