Can babies be switched in hospital?

Who else is concern about the baby be switched? My mom keeps telling me to be looking around and following nurses... and I just read some woman on the news that her baby was switched any advise? 😳

At my hospital they put an electronic tag on the baby ankles and one on my hospital bracelet so that prevents them from leaving the area. Also the baby does not leave the room unless they go to the nicu or circumcision which my husband will watch over so the baby that reduces the risk and puts me at ease

As soon as the babies are born in my hospital they put bands on the mom and baby hat have the same number on them but my husband still said we have to bring a sharpie and put an inconspicuous dot on him somewhere hahaha

At the hospital I’m giving birth at they don’t take the baby out the room away from the mother. They do all their testing right there unless something is medically wrong with baby then they have mother or father go with them and the baby.

there will be a band on your baby for security reasons and whoever has you baby will also have one if the person is unfamiliar or does not have a band security rushes up there....So yes your baby will be safe:)you will also have a band as well to be able to walk around.

The hospital I'm going to they put two name tags and a tag that goose off its close to a exit plus you don't have to put your baby is the nursery and if you do your given another special tag that's put on they pjs

Our hospital never takes baby out of room unless for an emergency. They also have a security device in the umbilical cord clamp so there know where they’re at 24/7.

They do rooming-in at our hospital so baby won’t be leaving our sight unless there are complications that require them to take the baby out of the room. I was a little worried prior to finding that out.

Most hospitals now don’t have baby in the nursery. With my first, every time they took her out, they would bring her back in and I would have to read my numbers on my bracelet before they could leave her. I do know of a hospital mix up that happened 10 years ago in my area. I won’t deliver at that hospital. But it’s rare now since baby rarely leaves the room.
