Is it bad not to drink in college?

So I decided that I didn’t want to drink in college for many reasons. They are mostly personal such as a history of alcoholism and mental health issues in my family. When I go to a party or even bring this up to my family people usually question it and then call me boring or no fun. I don’t feel the need to explain to them my reasoning every time.

I am writing a paper for a class about the reception of not drinking. If possible you could share your opinion on not drinking or even drinking in college below that would be a great help! Even share your own experiences if possible, thank you!
