Changing my major...

gabby 🦋 • Behavioral Psychology 👩🏻‍🏫🧠

I’ve been having second thoughts for a long while about changing my major. I am currently a psychology major with the hopes of becoming a psychiatrist. I feel as if the older I get, the more interest I lose in psychology. When I was in high school I was so excited and fascinated by the brain. Now, I hate it. I dread every psychology class I take now.

I’ve been getting into biology... every biology class I’ve taken so far I have ended up with over a 95%. I love the reasonings behind biology and the science-y stuff and looking at different samples under the microscope. It’s so fascinating.

I started to do research on biology majors and then it clicked to me. If I found myself so intrigued by it and enjoyed working with microscopes, I could become a clinical laboratory scientist. If you don’t know what that is, those are the people who look at your blood samples, urine samples, etc. They also check to see if your blood is a match in case you need replacement. I really love the idea of working in a lab in a fast pace environment.

Have any of you had second thoughts about changing your major? What was your outcome?
