Just came to realize the truth behind the Salem witch trials

So this is completely not period related haha but I was watching a show called Lore and this episode was based on the Salem Witch Trials and I got to thinking. Granted I had some sort of inkling of this back in high school, however, I realized the Salem Witch trials was primarily used to silence strong willed women. Around 25 people died during the trials, 4-5 of those people were men. Those men were sympathetic to the strong willed women and hence were killed for “associating with witches”.

It’s so saddening thinking about how oppressed women were up to just 60 years ago and the Salem Witch Trials, although hundreds of years ago, is proof of how belittled women were, especially strong willed women. I’m not one to usually talk about stuff like this but I figured I’d just share what I finally understood haha.
