Should I be lifting my dog?

This bean head is 60lbs and all of a sudden refusing to jump up into the back of my SUV. This morning I had to hoist him in because he wouldn't even put his front paws up for me to lift his back end in. I don't wanna hurt the baby, I'm prob being paranoid. But I also need to get this dude in the car and the show on the road! (it was hard for me to lift him cuz I'm a weakling lol)

Unless you lift heavy weights on a normal basis, you shouldn’t be lifting that lazy pup! Also, as a side note, if he keeps it up not wanting to jump into the car, maybe have a well-check at the vet to make sure he’s not having any health issues causing sudden decrease in mobility 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m a vet tech and we have a general rule that any dog over 50 lbs should be lifted by two people so we don’t hurt our backs! Even when not pregnant!

He's so cute 🥰 My doctor always told me to go by how many body feels and lift gradually initially so you can test it before really lifting too much. If I feel completely comfortable with the lift then it's fine.
*Advice for a tame; no increased risk of anything pregnancy for me

I sometimes have to lift my 60 pound dog she won’t get in the car.. she sleeps on our bed and needs help getting her back legs up... but at this point I’m giving up and trying to avoid.m it as much as possible... that being said I totally helped her up on the bed tonight 😬

They say if you need to strain you shouldn’t lift it. If it’s easy there’s no problem.

It really depends what you’re used to..if you regularly lifted weights and we’re used to lifting him prior to being pregnant than it’s fine. My dr is continuing to let me lift as long as I limit it to under 100 pounds and listen to my body. Prior to pregnancy I was lifting regularly and for over a year though. I have lifted well over 100 pounds for various lifts so it is still a cut back but right for me. Talk to your dr about lifting limitations

You definitely shouldn’t be lifting that heavy. Maybe try taking a stool out with you next time or bribe him in the car with a treat lol
