I had my 39 week appointment today—I’m 4 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Crazy!! Throughout this third trimester, I often had elevated fasting blood sugars so I’ve been seeing maternal fetal medicine specialists and my regular obgyn. My obgyn is concerned that I’m going to have a “big baby”. She wants me to be induced if I go past my due day of Nov 12 because I’m measuring at 8 lbs 2 oz (72 percentile) based on a sonogram I took today. However my maternal fetal medicine specialist is NOT concerned with baby’s size and says they wouldn’t consider inducing because of my sugars until 41 weeks. My obgyn is the one who will deliver my baby, not my mfm specialist. So I do wonder how much the convenience of scheduling a procedure is at play in my ob’s recommendation... 🤔

It drives my a little crazy that my doctors can look at the same set of numbers and have such different opinions. Also the sonogram can be off +/- 1 pound, that’s such a huge discrepancy!!!
