Breastfeeding/pumping
First time mama here!
Here’s my story! Baby Grayson was due for December 3rd but decided to come October 31st instead! So he was born 35 weeks and a couple days! This is what his pediatrician has asked that I do diet wise since he his a preemie:
-feed every 2-3 hours.
-make sure he gets around 40-60 ml every 2-3 hours.
-get in 8-10 feedings a day.
-pretty much bottle feed breast milk and breast feed.
Grayson right now usually will latch on my breast for 10 mins on and off. He will dose off and fall asleep at the boob but also suck in between lol. I also have been pumping after his feeding sessions and storing some milk in the fridge. (Never sits there longer than a day)
So my question is,
How do I go about doing this in a routine way? Which comes first?
Would I wake up and try to get him to latch and let him latch as long as possible. And then should I warm up one of the milks in the fridge and give him 40 ml, and then after he eats pump? And then do it all again in 3 hours?
I’m all too new to this, but so far this is what I’ve been doing and it takes about an hour to do. He’s been gaining weight which is good.
