Honestly, do you care the price of the gift?

I understand that’s the thought that matters. Would you honestly care if you were given a “cheap” gift? Does price matter to you to some extend?

I don't care about price, I prefer people not spend a lot of money on me. I just want a gift to be useful or meaningful.

It's more the thoughtfulness behind it. So if you knew I was nostalgic for old timey candies and you made me a cute basket of it for $10 - great gift. 
Alternatively if it seems like you just picked up something cheap with no thought, it's a bad gift. So a $10 box of dark chocolates when I only like milk chocolate is a terrible gift.

My SO and I don’t do gifts. But my parents spend way too much on everyone. We tell them every year but they just like doing it.
