Kind of supplementing?

I have a 6 day old. I’m breastfeeding. 
Every day it’s like she’s on me every hour!! She falls asleep, I wake her up.. sometimes she’s awake the whole time!! But it’s every hour!! So I started pumping and got a couple bottles.. but today I was so overwhelmed and tired I gave her some of the formula the hospital sent me home with..
Now I feel a few different things; mostly I feel like a failure but could I have messed her tummy up? Will breastfeeding be effected by this?

If you did it once it's not gonna hurt her. Just continue pumping if breastfeeding is to stressful.

As previously mentioned, you are going through cluster feeding. It really is a nightmare because you are exhausted and worry if the baby is getting enough/ if you are producing enough. When you are going through it, it feels like it will never end, but it will! I keep telling myself that the next time it happens I won’t cry lol.

I did it too, and then I found out what cluster feeding was. I thought for sure she wasn’t getting enough so I gave her a ounce of formula. She was fine, and so was I. She has been ebf for 6 months now

It might upset her tummy for a bit but she'll survive. Hang in there! Cluster feeding is very rough

Read up on cluster feeding (also called growth spurts) , it’s exhausting but it’s what babies do to make your supply go up.

If you're trying to EBF then they recommend not pumping until 4-6weeks when breastfeeding is established. You could be creating an oversupply which will lead to mastitis. What you're going through is completely normal to be feeding every hour as your LO is cluster feeding at the moment to naturally increase your supply. I remember it being hard at the start being so sleep deprived within the first week but it does get better! Try getting some isotonic drinks, they give you and energy boost when you need it. Asda do an orange 4 pack for roughly £1.50 and they were a godsend to me. And sleep when LO sleeps,they aren't joking when they tell you this mama. You're doing good.
