How do I teach my 14mo wrong from right when he thinks it’s just a game?

My 14mo son gets into things he knows that he shouldn’t. As he approaches things he shouldn’t touch (cords, my Mom’s ornament that has sticks in it, etc.), he looks over at whoever is watching him, smirks, and then goes to grab it. So, he gets a whack on the hand, but then ponders over to the next thing he isn’t allowed to touch, and does the same.

He thinks it’s all a fun game. But the things he’s getting into are potentially dangerous, and he needs to learn right from wrong. There’s only so much baby proofing that I can do!

Help?!
