Early ultrasound?

Hi ladies! I had a pregnancy confirmation appointment with my regular doctor this morning. And to my shock - she ordered an ultrasound for this coming Monday! I am 5 weeks to the day today. I was expecting a blood test and BAM! She said let’s do the ultrasound! And then when I called the referred OB, they were very pleased I already had one scheduled for them to see at my 9 week appt.

So I have a question - what should I expect at an ultrasound before six weeks? She said we may or may not see the heartbeat. And does this mean I won’t get another ultrasound at 9 weeks at my appointment?
