when to stop swaddling

When did you stop swaddling your baby ? My baby is 4.5 months old and loves swaddle for naps and at bedtime . She doesn’t roll over yet so she stays on back all time when asleep . I read 3-4 months but if they love it why stop ??

Once they start to roll it’s no longer safe for unsupervised sleep as they could get into an unsafe position that they can’t get out of without the use of their arms or legs. You can use a sleep sack though!

I was told when they can roll over but my son is almost 8 months and has to be swaddled

AAP says to stop swaddling baby at 8 weeks, which is when we stopped swaddling. The risk of them rolling over while sleeping and suffocating due to being stuck and not having arms to roll over is high. You don’t want your baby to roll over for the first time while they are swaddled.

Lol my first was over a year, she loved to be swaddled but i was pregnant and didn't want to swaddle 2 at once. The 2nd one hated it and my 3rd loved it but around 6 months he learned to get his arms out. He still had to be wrapped though lol
