Do you require any visitors to your baby to have been vaccinated with flu and whooping?

Do you require that everyone who has contact with your baby should be vaccinated with whooping and flu before visiting? How important is this to you? And for those of you that say yes, have you run into any issue with people saying no?

I’m not going to request that people be up to date on their vaccinations because they should be anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️ the people who are the most at risk to get the baby sick are the ones who are most frequently around the baby.

No i think thats ridiculous. Are you going to make them bring their medical records? Are you going to keep the baby in a bubble?

No. Flu shot is only maybe 30-50% effective. Measles is also a concern and most adults aren't up to date on their measles booster either. Tdap maybe for someone who regularly cares for my baby. Also there are plenty of other illnesses with no vaccine available that are also quite harmful. But I'm not going to expect people to get all these shots just to stop by my house and say hi. I ask them to wash their hands and no kidding baby. Any sniffles including "allergies acting up" no holding baby. And people can come be around me and the baby without actually holding the baby. Plus if you get the Tdap while pregnant, baby gets some protection. Anyway I don't require it just to come visit. But I don't expect them to get shots just to come by

Absolutely not. People are free to make choices in regards to their own body. It’s unethical to me to force another human to make choices regarding their body because of my own issues.  If they want the flu shot they’ll have it. If they don’t they won’t.  Following basic hygiene, hand washing standards is our only “rule”.

No...we’ve told all family that will be in contact with baby that my doctor recommended they all have the flu shot and whooping cough vaccine. It’s up to them if they get it. I’ve also told them if they are sick not to even think about coming to visit. There’s nothing you can really do to make them get it.

I meant to press no. There is no point it doesn't make sense to me. Yes that's the safest but you could just tell them not to kiss your baby. Being sanitized is important though and will prevent sickness. If someone is sick though, they shouldn't be going to see your baby

No I kept hand sanitizer by the front door and made sure everyone used it. No kissing baby. Nobody who has "allergies" or cold symptoms held the baby or came near us. Breastfed for extra protection.

I won't request but I will inquire and I will restrict those with little ones, I may be a tad over the edge but until you have a newborn with a really bad cold then you don't completely understand. My BIL did this to me and my son and it wasn't until we started to exhibit my MIL at the time said Oh sh#@#* Chumpy had the flu and he still visited you guys I was livid. As for my household we are all vaccinated. So as a precaution visitors will be kept to a minimum or not at all in the first four weeks

You could just tell people not to kiss or touch baby’s face and hands and limit the people who will hold baby. And don’t let people crowd over baby.
