I always relate this story when I hear questions like this: I have a guy friend who I have known since I was 9 (so like 14 years now). We always got along well. People really thought we would end up together, and really, had life been slightly different, we might have. But here’s the thing, it wasn’t different. We flirted in high school, but at the end of the day, we just loved each other as people. I fell hard for my husband. He fell hard for his long-standing girlfriend. There are no unresolved feelings because we just cared about each other as people before anything else, and it was a natural and easy transition to being adult friends. He and my husband are now close, and we adore his girlfriend. So, yes... it can happen. It actually reminds me a little bit of the song ‘Cool’ by Gwen Stefani.

You've got to be shitting me rn. It's 2018. It's time to accept that not all women are waiting to be wooed by men and not all men want to get in their pants. Of *course* people from opposite genders can have platonic relationships. It's beyond me when people tell me I should date my guy friends because "they're cute." My girl friends are cute. My cat is cute. My grandma is cute. I definitely don't want to date my cat or grandma.

I say it depends solely because of circumstances. Never had an issue until one of my husband's friends tried to break up our marriage so she could try to date him. I think it depends on whether both parties want an entirely platonic relationship, just like everyone else. Not his fault, not her fault that she felt the way she did. There was just a better way to handle everything.

I always go alone better with guys. And I can say those are the best friendships. You learn a lot of things from then and they take care of you.
