Is deleting all of your social media accounts a good idea? I want to delete them all and kinda of focus on reality and take up a hobby but I also don’t want to start over if u want to get it back. Does it help cleanse your life??

My husband and I both deleted ours in August of 2016. We sat down and had a real talk about why we were always on it, doing nothing productive. I deactivated mine at first and during this time my husband was seeing a lot of gruesome videos being shared and it disturbed him.. Once we realized that these apps were tracking our searches and our texts we deleted it for good. There was an item I saw at the store and TEXTED my husband about, I did not search it at all. That item showed up in ads on my fb and IG and also in his. We weren’t sure if they were listening to our convo or what but we were done. We deleted all our social media after that. Really creeped us out. Now I feel bad for all the people that just stare at their phones all day and miss everything going on around them. My marriage is way better since deleting, my self confidence is much better, and my communication with family and friends didn’t change at all we just text now 💕 I actually realized who my real friends are. People who it is just convenient to say “let’s hang out!!” On your post, versus people that now text you to see how you’re doing and really want to hang out. Some people don’t talk to us at all since it’s not convenient for them anymore; but I don’t want friends out of convenience lol. It’s nice to have some privacy and not have so many opinions about my life and my marriage that don’t matter.

I just have majorly laid off my social media. I’ve been focused on work, my relationship & my pregnancy so I haven’t had time to be on them consistently. Definitely feels better having an actual life outside of social media.

You can deactivate them instead of deleting them. And just delete the apps from your phone
