I just don’t understand paying for friends and paying to do community service . I had friends for free and also did a ton of community service/charity work in university, all without being a part of a sorority. I’m sure most of the girls are good people, but on a whole they don’t have a good reputation

It entirely depends on the chapter. My small school sorority was far different than those on large campuses with their own house. No sorority on my campus had a house and all of them were focused on giving back to the community. We had extremely strict rules when it came to partying as well - if we were wearing our letters then we couldn’t be near alcohol. Doing so was grounds for being kicked out. Please don’t assume all women in sororities are the way they are depicted on television (same with men in fraternities).

Depends on the school and the sorority. The university I went to was small, so there was only like one I think. I have a lot of friends who were on sororities throughout college and formed lifetime friendships. My mom is still friends with some of her sorority sisters. It wasn’t what I wanted, but I definitely see how it has its advantages just for getting through college. It’s not all partying even though it may seem that way.
