Piggybacking off a post asking about loving your niece or nephew, this really got me thinking.

I have no real relationship with my nieces. I see pictures and get updates but I never get to see them or talk to them in person. Basically we don't have a connection of any sort.

However I'd never wish harm on them and want nothing but the best for them. They are my blood and I'd defend them and protect them the best I could.

Do you think it's possible to love someone just based off the fact of who they are or do you believe you have to actually have a relationship to truly love them?
