Do you think the American Heart Association got it wrong when they backed the high carb/low fat diet?

I was watching The Magic Pill last night (its on netflix). The documentary follows a few people with varying health conditions and implemented the ketogenic diet. They also talked about various studies on low carb/high fat and high carb/low fat diets. The AHA has backed the high carb/low fat diet. The food pyramid was born and shows carbs should be a major point in your diet, fruits and veggies next, and fats at the very tiny tip. Americans changed the way they ate and still heart disease is the leading cause of death. One study showed that high carb/low fat did little to reduce the risk of heart disease. The documentary also talked about a scientist skewing studies to support high carb/low fat diets. So do you think the AHA got it wrong?

*Disclaimer* I am not saying any of this is credible. Most of this information was included in the documentary. I'd like to hear other people's thoughts and sources on the topic. Either way, whether the documentary and their sources are credible or not, its still very interesting I 10/10 recommend.
