Is Spectra really worth it?

Question

The website that makes it easy to order breastmilk pumps through insurance the spectra is $40 because it comes with a fancy bag. Other pumps without the bag are free. So I'm wondering: should I just get the spectra with the bag, go through insurance the hard way and get it for free, or get a different pump?

I have the portable Spectra and I love it. The site I used had a bagless option though. Maybe you could email and ask.

I love my Spectra2, HOWEVER, the spot that I'm pointing to in the picture is very hard to clean fully. My bottle brush just doesn't reach up there properly so I actually bought a brush that is meant to clean inside of reusable straws (don't mind the moisture... I literally just finished pumping and haven't washed it yet 😊)

I had Ameda pump last time and it sucked. I ordered the S2 through insurance and paid $25 for the bag cause I thought it was cute. It was super easy getting it through insurance. They do all the work for you. I have heard nothing but amazing things about this pump and I’m extra use it!

I have a Spectra and I like it just fine, but I wish I’d known that I’d get a bunch of free Medela stuff from the hospital. I feel like I have about the same results with both, but due to the extra free gear, I definitely would’ve gone with the Medela had I known.

I’m looking at the Spectra too but not due until March. How far along do you have to be to get it through insurance? Anyone have website recommendations for getting it through insurance?

Yes the Spectra is worth it. Not sure the bag is worth $40 though. If there is no bagless option, you could always try a different medical supply company to order through. There are several and they all have different offerings.
