Mirena IUD 1st timer questions???

I’d just like to know what are some of the common side effects in the Mirena community?? I’ve done research and everyone has different ones but no one says clearly what they experience. I got mine yesterday and have had light cramping and bloating, but I’m honestly afraid to gain weight and to be moody! So if y’all could share your experiences that’d be great! :-)

IUDs don’t cause weight gain directly but they can increase cravings so if you eat the same way as you did before insertion, you shouldn’t gain weight! I love mine, I’ve had it for 2 years. Expect to spot for a long time after insertion but then for many women your periods will get less and less heavy (some even get rid of their period altogether). I have minimal cramps and if I have them, they’re nothing midol can’t fix. For reference I used to throw up on the first day of my period every month like clockwork. If your bf says he can feel the strings, you can get them trimmed by the doc or just let them soften around your cervix over time

Weight gain, low libido, vaginal dryness, cramping. I absolutely hate the iud and would not recommend for anyone. I’ve personally never spoken to anyone who has had it that had a great experience. But who knows there could be someone out there.

Oh don’t worry! It’s a little painful the first three days but you’ll be fine. I’ve had mine for three years and haven’t gained weight. I know all IUDs seem scary at first, but you got this!!❤️
