Baby showers: Is it right for others to buy you expensive essentials?
I see lots of baby posts about expectations on baby shower gifts not being met. And I’m surprised that people expect others to buy them pretty much most of their items.
Do you think it’s right to expect others to buy you expensive items like prams, cots and essentials - or do you think it’s the parents responsibility and if anyone gives gifts it’s a nice added extra.
I personally with my husband bought all our things in advance (with a spreadsheet outlining costs, links, waiting for sales and price reductions so we could afford properly.) With extra planning we even made savings against our budget. Anything extra we got was a blessing, but without expectation.
But that’s just me, what are your thoughts and why?
