Education? How important is it?

So going off of the college post. Do you guys think that class rank is worth the stress for colleges? A lot of schools near me are getting rid of rank, because they say it promotes unnecessary stress. Also, do you think that taking Ap is beneficial? If So is it inherently good? Do you think it’s better to get a b or c in an ap class, than an a in a regular class?

Taking AP is definitely beneficial. Honestly i don’t remember a lot of the material from the class but it shows work ethic and that you’re willing to challenge yourself which looks good to future schools/employers. I don’t really have an opinion on the ranking thing, I don’t know the pros and cons of each side

The education system in the UK is slightly different to that of other countries however I went to college for two years and dropped out when I was having family issues because it wasn't worth the upset that I was going through to put myself through even more stress at college.
I was actually very lucky to get into college in the first place because I didn't go to school that often because of my mental health and so I missed a lot of that and didn't exactly get the greatest grades. But ultimately when it starts to affect your mental health then it's definitely important to take a step back.
obviously I think education is important but I don't believe that you learn everything in a school or classroom environment I've learnt a lot more watching documentaries and reading books than I did in school. It's different for everyone but ultimately sacrificing yourself for anything whether it's education or a job isn't worth it

I honestly don't think it's too important. Ideally you want to have the basics (at least a high school diploma of GED). If you know what you want to do for the rest of your life and that means going to college, that's great. But not everyone who seeks higher education gains from it. Look at all the people who have degrees and aren't using them. And then there's very successful people who haven't gone to college at all. As for AP classes, i never took them so I honestly don't have an opinion on that. But it all boils down to what makes YOU feel successful. To some, that's working really hard in school and in college. To others it's being a stay-at-home parent or working part time at a restaurant or store.

I liked class rank. I never stressed about it though 🤷🏻‍♀️ I liked knowing where I stood with my peers.
And AP and honors classes I think are SUPER beneficial! Most schools accept AP tests as college credits. I went into my freshman year of college as a first semester sophomore, which meant when we registered for classes (which was by credit count) I registered before most freshman and some sophomores. I also got a scholarship based on my AP scores/classes.
However I see the point AP classes being more difficult. You just have to choose: A's in a regular class with no college credit potential or (possible) C/B's in an AP class with the potential for college credit on good tests. It depends on the student.

AP is beneficial bc if you get a certain score on the AP test at the end of the year, you may opt out of courses in college and save money. Rank is usually only good for saving money because if you’re valedictorian you may qualify for scholarship.

I feel like seniors in high school, especially in California, stress way too much about college. I never once took my class rank into consideration and I got accepted into all of the 5 universities I applied to. I had a graduating class of about 176. 
As long as you have a good GPA (IMO), and you’ve done some extracurricular, you should be fine. 
All my ex friends in HS were stressing themselves out and cries themselves to sleep to get accepted into a UC and didn’t even make it. They also took all the extra curriculars, AP classes, etc. 
I got into some and I didn’t even do half of what they did. I maintained a decent GPA (about a 3.5-3.7) taking the basic classes. I got in. 
Colleges look for more than just a number. 
Again, completely how I view the schooling system based off experience.

I don’t think ranking is beneficial, but I do think my AP classes and honors classes were. My school was in a rural middle of nowhere, and the regular curriculum wasn’t that good, but my AP/honors classes taught me how to study and prepared me for college. I actually got a better GPA in college than I did in highschool partly because of that.

My school had AP and concurrent (classes that were actual college credit, you didn’t have to pass the AP test to get it or go to the college campus). I think they’re very beneficial. They gave me good work ethic, helped me prepare for college, and helped me build good study habits. As for class rank, I won’t argue one way or the other. It may be stressful for some, for others it might not be. I didn’t care.

I think it just promotes a good hard working ethic which is one of the most beneficial traits in life in my opinion.

AP classes are wonderful, they prepare students for college and help them save a good bit of money. I took as many AP classes as I could in high school and they didnt really cause me extra stress. In general I enjoyed the structure of them much more than high school classes. 
As for high school rank, I think students who put in the extra effort should be rewarded and recognized for it. Rank wasnt really something I personally worried about in the slightest but I wasnt trying to get into an Ivy League school or anything either. I assume students who want to get into prestigious universities enjoy the extra edge being in the top of the class gives them and find that the stress is paid off when they do get accepted into their school of choice
